What to Wear on Valentine’s Day
Picking the right Valentine’s Day outfit can be a difficult process. Depending on what you’re doing, there are many outfit options. Make sure to consider what you’re doing – are you hanging with your girlfriends or do you have a date? If you have a date, is it your husband/wife or boyfriend/girlfriend? Or maybe it’s someone you’ve just met! I started dating my husband just before Valentine’s Day, and I remember stressing over what to wear on our date night for the holiday.
Depending on your plans, you want to make sure you’ve got the right vibe. Hopefully your date will tell you where y’all are eating. My husband always likes to surprise me, so I don’t always have a lot of time to prepare! If you’re going a bit more casual, make sure not to overdress. Of course, if you have a special Valentine’s Day date, you want to dress up special.
Valentine’s Day Outfit: Romantic Date Night
This pretty dress (under $100) is the perfect dress for a romantic date night. Valentine’s Day is always a cold time of year, so it makes wearing dresses a little difficult. So, a long sleeve dress is always my go-to when it’s cold out, but I want to wear a dress. The floral pattern is feminine, and the ruffles add the prettiest dimension to the dress. I paired this dress with over the knee boots to stay warm. But, I actually just wore this out for my birthday dinner and paired this dress with these pointed toe pumps.
Also, I think this floral dress is appropriate for any sort of date night – whether it be with your spouse, significant other, or someone you’re just dating! And, if you don’t want to go for the traditional red or pink outfit (which I am totally down for, by the way), this dress still has the feminine and romantic feel.
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a pretty and chic dress and pumps for any Valentine’s Day date night outfit. The cut and shape of this dress is universally flattering. Any dress that has a defined waist instantly slims you, and the asymmetrical ruffles make you look longer and leaner. So – are you feeling this dress? If the pattern is a bit too much for you, it also comes in a beautiful solid navy with black piping.
Casual Valentine’s Day Outfit
If you want to wear this same dress for a more casual date, just pair it with some ankle boots! I’ve actually worn this dress to work. It works perfectly with flat over the knee boots, too. But, some other options for a casual Valentine’s Day outfit for a date night – or day – or gal’s night are cozy sweaters, ripped jeans, and booties. You can easily switch up the accessories depending on your style, but the outfit below is super chic and you could wear it all the time.
You may have recognized this mock neck sweater – I’ve worn it before in navy. I love it so much I am contemplating buying it in a few other colors. It is such a classic sweater, and who doesn’t love a good tunic?! But, this pretty blush pink is lovely for a casual date night or a night in with friends on Valentine’s Day. The booties are casual but still sexy because of the pointed toe (I have been wanting these booties forever!).
Sticking with a neutral color palate, like pink, beige, and white makes your outfit look luxurious and chic. And, especially if you’re hanging with your friends, wear the hat! Most guys don’t get the appeal of a chic hat (my husband included!), so I always save it for a time with friends. Anyone else do that?!
So, what are you wearing for Valentine’s day?! I’d love to hear about and see your outfits, so make sure to tag me on social media so I can check them out.
