How to dress up a chic tie-waist, red plaid dress for fall.
Recently, I wore this gorgeous red plaid dress on a date night with Neil. It was our first date night in months, so it was much-needed! We went to the Charlotte Ballet, and I loved it. The new director has a more contemporary and progressive vision for the company, and I enjoyed seeing the new direction. You may not know this, but I grew up dancing. From ballet to point to jazz to tap, I did it all for 14 years. Unfortunately, I haven’t danced since college, and I miss it so much. Honestly, I need to find some adult dance classes here in Charlotte. Not only is it just fun, but dancing is the best work out ever.
Ok, so back to this dress. First of all, it’s on sale! WIN. I paired it with some of my favorite booties and really felt like I was channeling my inner gothic Taylor Swift. You know, from her vogue cover with her bangs and platinum hair? Yea, I dig it. I’ve always secretly (not so secretly) wanted to go platinum blonde and get bangs again. But I’m pretty sure my hair girl would kill me (she’s amazing, btw. If you live in Charlotte – go see Cortney at Folicle!).
When we went on our date, I actually paired this dress with my favorite moto jacket because it was a cooler night. The asymmetrical hem of this dress gives it such an edgy look. I can’t tell you how many people complimented my outfit – I felt rather chic. Who doesn’t love a good compliment?! Also, don’t forget a bold lip. Because a dress this amazing deserves an awesome red lip!
