How I Prepared for Motherhood
Although I didn’t prepare much for birth, I have to say that I really prepared for motherhood. Well, I really tried to. I’m not sure anything can adequately prepare you for the rollercoaster of emotions you feel! I read every sleep book because I was intent on sleep training Lincoln. And, I read every online article I could about the best parenting types. If you didn’t notice, I am all about reading lots of different information and processing it to find the best fit for our family. Finally, after purchasing every single baby device and item I could possibly buy, I felt like I at least had all the tools I needed.
Having Lincoln was life-changing. Obviously. Having a child turns your entire world upside down in the best ways. Neil and I had to adjust to having another life to care for. Our relationship grew and adapted to our new roles, which was challenging! Lack of sleep doesn’t help, either. There are still so many ups and downs of raising a child and we try to take them as they come, together. But at the same time, having mom friends is a complete necessity. No one can understand a new mom like other moms! Because it is hard. Like really, really, really hard. But just because it is hard, doesn’t mean it isn’t amazing and wonderful and so worth it. Which is why Baby + Co. is so amazing.
How can Baby + Co Help You Prepare for Motherhood?
Through education and social support at Baby+Company, you are equipped to thrive in motherhood. Because simply keeping your baby alive isn’t really a standard, right?! You want to feel happy so you can care for your baby in the best way possible. Staying connected with other moms and families is a way to make sure you have enough support and social time in your life. Whether you stay home or go to work, having a support network is essential. Having a baby can feel isolating, especially if you don’t have your mom tribe to help you out emotionally.
Baby+Company has a class specifically designed for new moms and what they need postpartum. New Moms Group is a six-week series where moms can meet other new moms. Yes, please. Local experts join each week to facilitate discussions and answer questions on the topics on the minds of new moms. Maybe it’s just me, but I always have about 7,000 questions every day about raising a baby. And, if you’re breastfeeding, there is a Lactation Consultant on our team to support moms in all stages with breastfeeding and pumping. Full schedule of classes and events that are open and free to all moms and their families. The full schedule can be access on our website. Link HERE.
