Thank you to baby+co. for partnering with Polished Closets on this post about how to prepare for pregnancy! Collaborating with brands Polished Closets believes in is an important part of our goal to a happy and healthy lifestyle.
Happy Monday! Every Monday, I try to talk about all things mom. Whether it be fashion, my favorite products of baby, or just real life mom struggles. But we all went through the same journey to get to motherhood. And that means saying to yourself “hey, we want to have a baby. Let’s do that.” Well…something along those lines. Deciding to become a mother (and father) is an empowering, exciting, and scary journey. But, this journey is different for everyone. Some families struggle with fertility and getting pregnant, while some families are very fortunate and get pregnant easily. For me and my husband, it took us a while to get pregnant. It was incredibly frustrating for me because I am someone who wants things to happen quickly after I make a decision. After about seven months of trying, we were finally able to get pregnant, and I consider us to be lucky.
No matter how long it takes you to decide to get pregnant and actually get pregnant, you and your family can never start preparing for pregnancy too early. That means your body, your life, your finances, your home…everything. Oftentimes, there is too much information out on the internet about preparing for this process. And something I’ve learned from being a new mom in a relatively new (to me) city, is that accurate pregnancy preparation information is power, and having a supporting #momtribe is crucial to happiness and sanity. Enter, baby+co..
Who is Baby + Company?
When baby+co. reached out to me to partner on a series of videos about preparing for motherhood, I was ALL about it. A little bit about baby+co.: baby+co. is a network of women’s health + family wellness centers focused on general women’s health + all things pregnancy, including pre-conception planning, pre-natal care, in-center birth and post-natal care. Baby+co.believes in making healthcare personal again, by educating and empowering their clients to choose the parenting journey that is right for them. Decisions made by parents are embraced and supported by the midwives, educators, health coaches and clinical teams. When a family joins baby+co., they join a community of moms + dads who are there to support one another through onsite wellness seminars, exercise classes and social activities. Basically, baby+co. supports every aspect of being a woman. Which is hard enough already.

How Does Baby + Company Help you Prepare for Pregnancy?
baby+co. has a new pre-pregnancy wellness program called Well + Prepared as well as a supportive community that can help set you up for success and get you one step closer to pregnancy. Honestly, I wish I had known about pre-pregnancy wellness programs when we were first trying to get pregnant. It took me a lot longer than I had hoped to get pregnant, and I was constantly frustrated with the process. With Well + Prepared, you receive a 90 minute pre-pregnancy wellness consultation with a certified nurse-midwife and a health coach to develop a personalized plan to get ready for pregnancy. Also, there is a series of classes that provide information and practical tools to help women get prepared for a healthy pregnancy.
These pre-pregnancy wellness classes include:
- Eat – a class focused on healthy eating and nutrition.
- Breathe – an introduction to relieving stress and calming the mind with mindfulness meditation
- Nest – a class centered on preparing your family financially for pregnancy
- Conceive – a practical way to track fertility and improve your chances of getting pregnant when you are ready.
Ok mommas, raise your hands if you needed this before you got pregnant! Because I certainly did. Honestly, if only we had prepared more completely financially, I may not have my constant struggle with being a working mom. Also, being your healthiest not only helps you get pregnant, but it also helps increase your chances of having a healthy baby. I know my stress levels are constantly high (Type-A over here…), and I wish I had learned more mindfulness when it came to stress before getting pregnant. However, having a child most certainly challenges my Type-A personality and I have become a lot more relaxed as a whole!
To schedule your pre-pregnancy consultation with a health coach and certified nurse-midwife, visit baby+co.’s website or give them a call at 704-800-6232.
With the help of Baby + Company, I participated in a video with some amazing, strong, and smart women about our journey to motherhood. Being in this video was certainly out of my comfort zone, but I’m so glad I challenged myself. Seeing and hearing yourself on camera is hard, and is especially hard when you’re about nine months pregnant! I hope this video gives you a new perspective on preparing for pregnancy!
Thank you again to Baby + Company for partnering with me on this post on how to prepare for pregnancy!
