How to make a delicious and refreshing watermelon basil margarita.
Happy 4th of July! I wanted to share a fun and refreshing drink for all of your celebrations – a watermelon basil margarita. Not only is it seriously delicious, but the red matches the patriotic festivities. The inspiration behind this drink was the fact that I had a watermelon sitting on our counter for about a week and needed to put it to good use. Also, I love adding herb flavors to fruity drinks to add a bit of spice, and basil was the perfect accent. However, if basil isn’t your think, you can absolutely make this drink without it!
- 1 shot of tequila
- Juice of one lime
- 1/2 cup of watermelon juice (super easy – cut up about 1 cup of watermelon and blend in the blender!)
- 1tbs basil simple syrup (Combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, & 1/2 cup of packed basil leaves in saucepan. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Allow mixture to cool, strain into a jar.)
- 1 cup of ice
Combine all ingredients into a shaker and shake until mixed. Rim glass with salt (if you want!) and pour mixture into glass. Garnish with basil and enjoy!
