A new year always calls for a reflection of the previous year, and I have to say that I had a pretty great 2016! Both personally and professionally, I have grown so much and I am so happy to have been able to share it with you. From traveling to NYFW, to getting pregnant, to buying a new home – so many things happened! I wanted to take a look back at all of my favorite outfits and the memories each one brought. For me, what I wear has always been more than getting dressed, it is an expression of how I am feeling that day and who I want to be. I always remember what I’m wearing for certain events or my favorite shoes for a season and the happy memories I have while wearing them. Here are a few of my favorites from 2016…
This ensemble is from my very first fashion week and it will always be my favorite. I was able to attend magnificent shows, spend time with my favorite people, and explore the wonderful city of New York.
Speaking shoes, I wore these wedges like CRAZY this spring and summer, and it was one of your favorites, too!
I also wore this jumpsuit way too much (or not enough?), and it was the perfect summer piece. At this point in the year, we were still living close to uptown Charlotte and loved exploring the little neighborhood of South End.
Because our neighborhood was so bike-friendly, I decided I needed a bike! And not just any bike, a bike with a basket, of course! We loved riding around our neighborhood to breweries and shops on the weekends. And I know I wore these platform wedges all the time!
One of my absolute favorite dresses from the summer!
By this point in the summer, I was keeping a little secret that you all found out about in October – I was finally pregnant! We were so excited, and keeping it under wraps was so hard! I also felt like I was totally bloated, so this billowy top was the perfect solution. I also debuted the new Polished Closets design and have been so happy with it since it’s launch!
So going to NYFW while 2 months pregnant was a struggle. I was insanely tired and also incredibly nauseous, and just overall didn’t have as good of a time as I had in February (which you can read about here). However, I loved this maxi dress and this is one of my favorite shots from the whole trip!
September and October were some major months of travel for me with my blog and personally. Two weeks after NYFW, I went to Charleston! It was such a wonderful trip and I had the best time. I was still very nauseous (I barfed during dinner one night and just had to retire to the hotel for the night!). And not even a week later, my husband and I jetted off to Iceland and had a such an adventure.
While we were in Iceland, we announced our pregnancy to our friends and family and it was such a fun experience! And we finally found out that we are having a baby boy in November!
Dressing the bump for the holidays was not a big challenge at first, and I was able to fit into some really cute dresses! I wasn’t feeling overwhelmingly pregnant at this point, and showing off my little bump was so much fun. We also moved into our new house around this time and I have loved every moment! I hope to show off some of my new-found decorating skills on the blog in 2017, so stay tuned!
This was one of my most recent posts, but it is one of my favorites from 2016! After a long search for another amazing maxi dress for winter, I found this one and was smitten. Dresses, leggings, and baggy sweaters are my go-to closet staples with my growing bump!
Thank you all for taking the time to read and follow along with Polished Closets. I cherish every reader, comment, follow, criticism, anything – and I hope that Polished Closets has helped to inspire you in some way! Here’s to 2016, and I’m so excited to take on 2017!
