Finally, it’s time to share our baby boy’s nursery! If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen that Lincoln Taylor Kern arrived two weeks early! He was born March 26th, 2017, and we couldn’t be more in love. Honestly, I could gush forever about this little guy. But, I’ll try to keep it to a minimum for this post!
When we first found out I was pregnant, we lived in a condo. Of course, I wanted to immediately start designing a baby boy nursery, but had to wait until we moved (5 months into my pregnancy!). Once we were settled into our new home, I immediately began the process. Ultimately, I was looking for peaceful, yet chic, baby boy nursery ideas. When it comes to themes, I am just not on board. No superheroes or safari themes for me!
Having a modern, bohemian feel was my goal. It all started with this Babyletto Hudson Crib! Even before I knew I was pregnant, I knew I would get this crib. Because of the the angled legs and even-level top, it is perfectly modern. Also, I choose the espresso and white color combo because it felt masculine.
When it came to selecting nursery art, I knew I wanted something simple. Selecting multiple prints seemed like too much of a task, and I just couldn’t find the perfect combination. But then I realized that one large picture would make the statement I wanted: simple and modern. I found this Buffalo Art Print on etsy and had it framed using Framebridge! The espresso frame perfectly matches the crib!
Another item that packs a huge punch is this rug. If you saw my original nursery design, you can see that this rug has changed. Initially, I wanted a rug with a bit more color, but the color ended up not being quite right. It’s ok though, I ended up using the original rug in our living room and it’s perfect. Something I love about this rug is how soft and plush it is! We can lay Lincoln down on the rug comfortably and not worry about it being scratchy.
Something that instantly changes a piece of furniture is updating the hardware. I selected this dresser because the angled legs matched the legs of the crib. However, I wasn’t crazy about the boring silver hardware. So, I bought some modern, gold drawer pulls and it immediately looked more luxe.
And this mirror! I loved the modern round shape, and the inexpensive price tag (under $50!). You all know I love a great look for less! Also, this wall was a little bare, so I added this insanely adorable felt garland! I loved that it perfectly matched Lincoln’s nursery colors and added a bit of whimsey.
Finally, I filled in all the little details. Adding little decorative items to the shelves that were functional and cute was essential. Obviously, that little golden orb thing isn’t useful, but the basket next to it is! These little knit baskets are perfect for holding pacifiers, brushes, and nail clippers!
Finally, I needed a side table for our gorgeous glider. I picked out the fabric for the glider and had it upholstered to match the room! Having the right side table that mixed in our white and espresso colors was essential. I love this modern table I found at Target. It is the perfect height and holds bottles, burp clothes and anything else we may need while feeding Lincoln.
I hope you all enjoyed visiting our nursery as much as I enjoyed designing it! Nesting is SO REAL, and I obsessively decorated this until I went into labor. This serene room is a place we are already spending so much time in, and I can’t wait to see how it evolves as Lincoln grows.
