This reveal has been a few months in the making, but I wanted to finally share my master bedroom refresh! Since moving into our new home this past November, we have been working on settling in. Of course, furnishing a home is no easy task, and it is expensive! Rather than the messy, bland room our master had become, I wanted to update it to be a serene getaway. And I wanted this to be an inexpensive bedroom update, so I’ve kept this refresh under $300. By sticking with my staples (headboard, side tables, lamps, bedding) and updating a few accessories (pillows, curtains, rug, wall decor), I was able to keep this refresh inexpensive.
My first step when creating my “vision” for my room is to pick out one statement item that I LOVE. And that was this rug. The unique, yet traditional-inspired pattern, instantly drew me in, and the colors were just right. I may have mentioned this before, but I get tired of most colors pretty quickly (no red or green for me, please). So I decided to stick with navy and gray for this room with small accents of blush. Understandably, my husband isn’t a huge fan of having an overly-feminine master bedroom, and who can blame him?!
From there, I went on the hunt for some solid throw pillows as well as the perfect pillow to tie in all of my colors. Originally, I wanted these Pottery Barn pillows, but I would have had to purchase pillow inserts, and that equals more money. So, I hunted for some less expensive pillows that were already stuffed, and came across these denim-colored suede pillows from Bed Bath and Beyond. The color was just right, and you can always use a coupon on their items, so win-win. Also, I knew that we wouldn’t actually be *using* these pillows, so I think going for a less expensive option is fine. I did splurge a little for this tassel pillow because it perfectly wrapped all my colors into one simple piece. BUT it’s on sale now and comes stuffed, so no need to buy an insert.
I purchased these gold mercury glass lamps from Home Goods about 3 years ago when we moved to Charlotte. They are the perfect neutral lamp for our bedside tables. I’ve found a similar option here!
In addition, I had our first and second sonogram pictures framed using Framebridge. These were a gift for Neil for Valentine’s Day. Because this is our bedroom, I liked the idea of hanging up these personal photos so we can remember the excitement we are feeling now for Baby K to arrive.
Gracie approves of our bedroom design. She is my constant shadow these days, and I certainly don’t mind it. We have another cat, Olive, who is too shy to come out when we have guests in the house!
Tassel curtains? Yes. I needed them. I found designer versions of these on the web and knew I needed to find a less expensive version. Of course, I found some on Amazon because it is the most magical online shop ever. There are a few tassel color options and they are under $30. Because our room is rather small, the curtains are light and airy, but still add some fun detail with the tassels.
Overall, I am so pleased with our bedroom refresh. It was a simple project, but scouting out what I wanted was so fun. Most of all, I love finding similar items for way less. It is possible! Sometimes you just have to hunt. Please feel free to email me with any questions! 🙂
