About three weeks ago, I started a new job! My new office is a bit more professional than my last when it comes to workplace attire. I had to step up my game and buy some appropriate attire, which proved quite challenging. I didn’t want to spend tons of money, but I wanted to make sure I had the basics that would allow me to look sophisticated and professional. But most importantly, I wanted to be comfy! Sitting at a desk eight plus hours a day requires comfort. Basically, I want to feel like I’m in my PJs, but also look like a grown up.
The one thing I bought in literally four colors is this comfy and classic faux wrap shirt. My office is freezing, and the long sleeves keep me warm all day. The key is to buy simple and classic pieces that you can rotate. I can wear a solid color long sleeve shirt or button up once a week AND I can mix and match it with skirts and pants. The same applies to shoes – you want timeless colors and fabrics. Think suede and leather in neutral colors like blush or navy. Once you get a feel for your office (if you’re new like me!) you can start to branch out a bit, but it’s always nice to feel put together at the office.
