The Paloma is one of my most favorite cocktails. It is refreshing and mild, and it is the perfect drink for summer. Tequila is my liquor of choice (blanco tequila, please!) because I love the smooth and smokey taste. The first time I tried a Paloma, I ordered it at one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte, 300 East. It was amazing, of course, and I always get one when I go! With Cinco de Mayo and summer right around the corner, this drink is the perfect twist on the typical margarita and is sure to impress your friends. 2 oz. tequila (reposado is best)
1/2 oz. lime juice (fresh squeezed is best – about half a lemon)
Grapefruit soda (I used Izzie)
Combine tequila, lime juice and salt in a highball glass with ice and top off with grapefruit soda. Garnish with a lime or grapefruit wedge. Make sure to salt the rim – it makes the drink even better!
