Continuing on from last week (see Part 1 here), I am talking about how you can make sure your life and mind stay organized and chaos-free. These small tips are easy and simple to do and everyone can do them.
6. Do it NOW.
This is one of the biggest points. You know when you’ve tried on what feels like 75 outfits and you have clothes thrown all over your floor? That is what happens when you don’t just get things done. If you had hung up each item after trying it on, you wouldn’t have a huge mess. Get the small things done as they come in. It will make the bigger tasks much more approachable.
7. Realistic Expectations.
If you expect to have your house looking like the Property Brothers just came in and renovated and decorated it, then you’ve got to be a bit more realistic. If you have a system for keeping things organized, make sure it actually works. Channel your energy into creating a functional system so you tasks can actually be accomplished.
8. Needs vs. Want
You may WANT to go to Target to purchase lots of cute home decor things that you don’t need, but you really NEED to go to the grocery store (I hate doing that). Just do the things you need to do, even if they aren’t the most fun thing on the list. Checking it off will make your life a lot easier.
Plan ahead. Whenever I leave the house, I plan out my errand route and check to see if there is anything that I will need in the near future. If I have to go to Target to get Thank You cards, I can also get that birthday/shower/wedding/etc card that I will need in a few months time.
Going all day can be tough, especially if you work full time and have to manage your home/family/kids/fur babies. Take time to indulge in a glass of wine (or 3) or your favorite reality TV shoe. It will make the next just a bit easier.
