The holidays are fast approaching, and it’s time to start planning everything from decor to food to gifts. In order to help manage the happy chaos, I’m giving my top 3 tips to getting through the season like Martha Stewart.
1. Lists, Lists, Lists. I love a list, and during the busy holiday season, they are essential. Writing down your to-do lists and checking them off adds an element of thoughtfulness that will help de-clutter your mind and help you rest easy knowing you have it all covered. Here are some lists I make: gifts to buy, food I want to make/ingredients, and decor to purchase.
2. Space it Out. Now that you have made your lists (go you!), you now have to figure out when to accomplish these tasks. My advice is to space it out. Don’t drain your bank account in one week and add more pressure to yourself. Prioritize what is most important or what is most convenient now, and go from there. For example, if there is a great sale (Black Friday, Cyber Monday), go ahead and get some gifts for your loved ones.
3. Start NOW. Don’t wait until “next week,” because that never comes. I wanted to take pictures in a pumpkin patch for Halloween. Guess what? Halloween already happened and my pumpkin pictures do not exist. Starting is often the hardest part, but once you get that ball rolling, you will feel proud of your accomplishments and will keep it moving. You can do it!
