Happy Tidy Tuesday! Lately, I’ve been noticing I have accumulations of STUFF in random places in my house: my closet, my pantry, and pretty much any flat surface (tables, counter tops, coffee tables). How can I make this stop?! It’s possible, and here is how I do it:
1. The Closet.
If you haven’t worn it in a year, it has to go. How do you prevent this in the future? Invest in quality pieces. Stick to the basics – blacks, whites, neutrals. If you want to buy that special, eccentric piece, make sure you can and will wear it more than once in the future.
2. The Pantry.
No one really sees your pantry except for you and your family. But having a cluttered pantry is the worst, especially when you are unloading bags full of groceries. Go through your pantry and clean it out before you go grocery shopping. Once you’ve done that, use drawers, bins, and other storage containers to create some order.
3. Basically any flat surface.
I don’t know about you, but when I come home from work, I dump my bags, my mail, etc. all over our kitchen table. And so does my husband. It becomes cluttered and gives me anxiety (just a little…ok, a lot). Utilize trays, bowls, or baskets in and around the area where you usually dump things. This will at least give your keys, mail, whatever a place to reside.
