How to Achieve a Modern Bohemian Style in your Home

modern bohemian living room

Can we talk about house goals? This modern boho living room would be a dream. As we search for a house, I can't help but dream of how I want to decorate it. I'll be honest with you and tell you that I tend to stick with neutral tones because I usually get sick of too many colors after a few months. But the modern boho take on this room with the muted pinks, blues, and grays are just perfect.

Ok on to these two rooms! The brown tones cool down the kitchen and living rooms, making them feel a bit more masculine even with the soft touches of pink or navy. You may have also noticed that there are plants in every single one of my inspirations! You can't go wrong with succulents (see how to incorporate them into your home here), but make sure they are safe for your furry friends (see here).

I've basically added everything here to my shopping cart. I mean...the textures are soft, the colors are muted, and they vibe is perfectly modern boho. I'm kind of dying over this marble lame and the Moroccan wall hanging. I can't wait to get into a house so I can start putting my decorating skills to use!

One of my new favorite things to do in the summer is ride my bike! My husband rides his bike to work every day, and because we live in such a bike-friendly area, it was a no-brainer for me to get my own! The basket was a must, obviously. We love to ride our bikes to dinner on Friday night and to get fro-yo afterwards (if you're riding your bike, you're burning enough calories for dessert, right?).

It's hard to wear a dress while riding a bike, but I think my outfit here is still pretty cute. This OTS top is only $15! Don't be afraid - it is a really nice quality and I can't stop wearing it. These fringe hem jeans are my new favorite pair of jeans because they are beyond comfy. I feel like I am wearing pajama jeans - does anyone else remember those info-mercials? ANYWAYS. I'm in love with pretty much everything in this post, so do yourself a favor and just get it all so you will be able to experience my outfit joy. Happy Monday!

How to Pick your Signature Scent

How to Pick your Signature Scent || www.PolishedClosets.com

Marc Jacobs Daisy || Burberry London || Coco Chanel Mademoiselle || Balenciaga Paris || Dior J'Adore || Marc Jacobs Lola

How many of you have a signature scent? Maybe I'm the only person who doesn't really have one! I currently have about 15 perfumes on my night stand and rotate them depending on my mood. I love being able to pick something new every day, but I also appreciate the routine and sophistication of having a signature scent. Having a signature scent will always remind people of you when they smell it, and you'll never have to second guess your scent of choice.

Did you know there are four groups of scents? Floral, Fresh, Woody, and Oriental. I really like graphs and found this one to show how they all relate to each other:

Have you ever smelled someone's perfume and LOVED it only to wear it yourself and not love it so much? That's because there are three smells to the same perfume: how it smells in the bottle, how it smells when you first spray it on, and how it smells a few hours later. All of these (seemingly random) facts are important when picking your favorite scent. Personally, I love to try a sample before I commit to a new fragrance. That way, you can see how the scent smells on you after a few hours of wearing. Does anyone else have a signature scent? What is it?!

Maxi Dresses Under $50

Maxi Dresses Under $50 || www.PolishedClosets.com

Top Row (left to right): Lush High Neck Floral Maxi || Mimi Chica Print Tie Front Maxi || Lush Knit Striped Maxi || Trixxi 'Cameo' Print Maxi
Bottom Row (left to right): Mimi Chica Floral Print Maxi || Lush Surplice Maxi || Ten Sixty Sherman Button Front Maxi || Soprano Stripe High Neck Maxi

Who else lives in maxi dresses during the summer? I know I always grab one when I'm heading out the door to run errands in the summer heat. They are so easy and breezy, and are so easy to wear. Personally, I love a good deal, and for a piece that you generally only wear in the summer, a $50 or less price point is key. You can get multiple dresses without breaking the budget and you won't feel bad because you will wear them all the time. These would all look perfect with block heels (check out my post about block heels under $100).

Turn a Spare Room into a Walk-In Closet

Who else dreams of a huge walk in closet a la Lisa Vanderpump? I certainly do! The reality of the situation is that I won't be getting that any time soon. BUT I can turn one of my spare bedrooms (once we purchase a house...) into a luxurious and functional walk in closet all by myself. It may look daunting, but really, you only need to purchase a few shelves and hanging rods and you're good to go. And of course, add a fluffy rug and comfy chair or stool to feel fabulous.

All you need for this simple closet are shelves like these with cubby holes and some closet shelves like these. Just arrange them on the wall and start putting your stuff on them!

I love this minimalist closet. I only wish I could live with so few clothes (I am imagining there are at least 7 more clothing racks spread around the room). Just purchase a clothing rack like this and you can spray it white!

So this would be the smallest blogger wardrobe ever, but I think this set-up would be perfect for laying out your outfit the night/day before. Call it your outfit-planning corner! Find the rack here

I love this mix of the shelving and the wire racks. Personally, I love to stack my bags and shoes on shelves rather than on the floor or hanging somewhere. This cubby hole shelf is so functional, and this wire rack is perfectly minimal.

The wooden details of this rack make the room feel warm and boho, and I dig that. If you or your spouse are handy, I would totally try to take on building this shelf on your own, or you can shop it here or a similar, less expensive one here
